What does it means to follow Christ?

Empty72813-2-051

In Luke 9:23 Jesus gives us a preview of what it means to follow Him. “… If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and pick up his cross daily and follow me”.

Although taking up your cross involves denying self, the main focus is about following Christ. The cross or burden we carry has to do with the choices we make with our will, the responses we have in our actions, and the attitude we carry in our hearts.

Our cross means that we are putting to death every decision, every response, and every attitude in our life that is not consistent with the love of Jesus Christ.

  1. I like your third paragraph Noel. That spoke to me the most. Thanks for doing it and as always a great one to take something away. You are soooooooo gifted. God Bless, SR

      1. Oh Noel, thank God for you and your heart. Most of all that He has given to you a heart to listen, as you very much hit the nail on the head. Struggles of all kind like you would not believe. As long as I know I have people praying for me such as you, I am going to be okay Noel. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt you are praying for me. God Bless, SR

  2. “Take up your cross” is one of the most misquoted Scriptures.
All present when Jesus said these words would have only one thought in mind. They knew that anyone who took up his cross was as good as dead – on the way to crucifixion, with no way of escape and no thought or action of self possible.

As you conclude, taking up our cross means “we are putting to death every decision, every response, and every attitude in our life that is not consistent with the love of Jesus Christ.”

  3. An EXCELLENT & MOVING post Noel! “Thank you!”

I loved this post from the start to the finish, and all POINTS in between– “Although taking up your cross involves denying self, the main focus is about following Christ. The cross or burden we carry has to do with the choices we make with our will, the responses we have in our actions, and the attitude we carry in our hearts.”

    God Bless you!!!

    1. May God bless your heart, my dear sister. I truly appreciate your input. I especially like what you shared in your second paragraph. Indeed, it is up to the individual to decide whether he or she wants to follow Jesus. And if one chose the follow Jesus one should expect that the road ahead could get rocky at times.

Thanks so much for stopping. God blesses.
