What to do when Trials come

Trials are real, and they come in various kinds. Every Human being faces them. The Bible says “…Count it all joy, my brothers, and sisters, when you meet different types of trials, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him, (James 1:1-5).

Still, it is difficult for anyone who is going through tough times to count that as joy. When tribulation comes to us, our first thoughts are to find a way out. And when we cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel, we tend to panic. But James is telling us to face our trials with steadfastness. Because in the end, everything will work out in our favor.

So, brothers and sisters, the next time life hits you out of nowhere and barely leaves you holding on. And when you are tired of fighting, chained by your control. There is freedom in surrender, lay your burden at Jesus’ feet and let it go. Then you will find out that your world is not falling apart. It is falling into place. Your heavenly Father is sitting on the throne. Stop holding on and let Him hold you.

Father’s Day prayer

Heavenly Father and Father of all fathers, today is the day earth people honor our fathers. But there is none like you, Lord. Some men have many sons. But you have one, and you sent Him to die on Calvary’s wretched cross for the sins of the world.

I thank you for all fathers, Lord. Thank you for the new and inexperienced ones as well as the old and wise ones. Father, I thank you for those who have stood by their children through thick and thin. Lord, I thank you for the one who, though not perfect, has nonetheless live an exemplary life that that children everywhere would want to emulate.

Father, thank you for that new father who is willing to endure sleepless night to care for his newborn. And thank you for those fathers who work multiple jobs to provide for their family. Amen.

Success comes through hard work. But some people worked all their lives tirelessly to reach the top of the ladder of success only to find it is leaning against the wrong wall.

Matthew 6:33 New King James Version (NKJV)

33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Prayer for boldness.

Jasmine Murray

Almighty God, grant your people boldness. And help us to stand up for what we believe, without any strings attached. Remind us daily that our yay should be yay, and our nay should be nay. Rip out every root and branch of wishy-washiness from within us. And give us the power to face our giants with strong confidence.

Goad us to take the spotlight off ourselves and direct it at You. For without You, we are weak and feeble. But with You, we have the power to do amazing things. Amen.

Thoughts and prayers are not enough. We need action.

Heavenly Father, I come before you with a sad heart today. Once again, our country is reeling from another mass shooting. This time it was at a Municipal building in Virginia Beach. Twelve lives have been cut short by the hands of a lone gunman. And as usual, our political and religious leaders are sendingthoughts and prayers’ to the bereaved and the survivors. But thoughts and prayers are not enough. We need action.

Lord, gun violence in these United States are as common as oxygen and water. Still yet the men and women in our Congress are not convinced that they need to pass meaningful gun legislation, to put the brakes on gun violence.

My good Father, I pray that you will pull back mask from over the eyes of those individuals in the United States Congress who cannot see that gun violence is a significant social problem. Soften their hearts, Lord. And bring them to tears every time gun violence wreaks havoc on our citizenry.

Heavenly Father, I place the bereaved and the survivors in the hollow part of your hands. Comfort them, Lord. And I hope they can find solace in your Holy Word.

Amen.

Jesus can turn your house of sorrow into a house of Joy

The story of the girl who lived twice have two versions — one in Mark 5 and the other in Luke 8.

The Bible says Jairus was a Jewish religious leader and teacher. One day something terrible came upon Jairus. His twelve-year-old daughter got sick. It was a bad sickness, and Jairus knew that she was dying, and he needed to get help fast.

Jairus heard that Jesus was in town, so he defied religious norms and set out to find Jesus and bring him to his house. Jairus found Jesus amid a large crowd. And when he saw him, he fell at his feet, and entreat him much, saying: “Our daughter lies at the point of death”. Will you come and lay your hand on her, so that she can be saved and live.

Jesus senses the urgency in Jairus’ voice, so he began to follow him, but they could not move quickly. The crowd was too thick. And before Jesus could make it through the dense crowd, servants from Jairus household brought sad news. “Your daughter is dead.” “Why trouble the teacher any further?”

When Jesus heard those words, he turned turned Jairus and said, “Do not be afraid, only believe, and she will be made well.”

At last, Jesus managed to cut through the crowd, and he let no one follow him except Peter, James, and John. When he got to the house, everybody was crying and moaning. The mood was somber. And he said to them: Why do you weep and wail? That child is not dead; she is sleeping. But everyone laughed at him.

Then he put them out of the house, except Jairus and his wife and those that were with him. Then he went entered in where the child lay. He held her by the hand and said to her, Tabitha, cumi! (Child, I say to you, arise). And at once, the child got up, and she walked on her feet.

And the people were astonished beyond measure. And suddenly, the house of sorrow turned into a house of celebration. And he insisted that no one should know about it. Then he told them to give her food.
