Let us pray

My dear Father, on occasions I get worn out and weary. I work hard. I try to do the right thing, but often my circumstances overwhelmed me, and I lose focus. Teach me to train my eyes on You, and not on my situation. Lift me, and guide my eyes to see the joy of the reward that awaits me. I pray for perseverance as I consider the satisfaction of the prize; I get to be with you forever in heaven. Free of pain, full of joy. Refill me with your truth, O Lord. Amen

12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he faced from sinful people;[ then you won’t become weary and give up.
