Quite often Christians seem to forget that we did not earn the salvation we boast about so frequently. Merely turning our backs on the world and embraced Christ was not enough to earn salvation. The Bible says,
“It is God who saved us and chose us for his holy work not because we deserved it but because that was his plan long before the world began—to show his love and kindness to us through Christ.”2 Timothy 1:9 TLB Bible Gateway
God saved you so you could serve him. And when you serve God, you will find it necessary to be of service to others, so that they too will wise up and change course.
We should not forget that everybody started at the same place–born in sin and shaped in iniquity. But that’s not all. Here is what Paul wrote:
Titus 3:3-4 NLT Bible Gateway
“Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other.
4But—“When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, 5he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.”
