The New Testament is the blueprint for how to live a Christ-centered life; follow its instructions, and you are on your way to heaven’s gate.

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers

Unfortunately, many of us (Christians), pick and choose what we should and should not follow. For instance, in the book of (2 Corinthians 6:14-18), apostle Paul warns Christians not to become unequally yoked together with unbelievers. Still, yet many of us do.

But there are consequences to our actions. The Bible calls us the light of the world. And as you know, light and darkness are not compatible. There is bound to be enmity between the two. 

So, to avoid unnecessary hostilities, and to preserve one’s faith and belief, single followers of Jesus Christ should resist becoming yoked with unbelievers. Moreover, the two can only coexist peacefully if either or both parties are willing to give up something. And history has thought us that often the believer is the one who makes the concessions.

 I am a product of an unequally yoked relationship. My mother was a prayer warrior, and my father was a wayward man. He drinks, smokes, and curses like a sailor. Often, he would come home liquored up, and all hell breaks loose. He curses, breaks things and carries on like a mad man. My poor mother could not convince him to change, so she compromised her faith and belief. And if she were still alive she would tell you that she did it for the kids. May her soul rest in peace.
