The passion of Christ

Thankful Saturday: Isaiah 53:4-7

Surely Christ has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Still, we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
and He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement of our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes, we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
They oppressed, and afflicted Him,
but He opened not His mouth;
They led Him like a lamb to the slaughter,
And as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
He opened not His mouth.

The parable of the sheep and the goats that Jesus told in Matthew 25:31-46 seems to convey a simple message. And why not. Jesus was and is known to make things simple. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that Jesus used this parable to clear up any ambiguity in an earlier point that He made: “Love your neighbor as yourself”.

As you read through the parable (the sheep and the goats), you will notice that as Christians and as a society in general, we are charge with the responsibility to care for the less fortunate. Further, according to the parable, every crying voice for help that we ignore will be held against us when we stand before the righteous Judge.

Oh come Emmanuel

Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign: Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel, (Isaiah 7:14).

But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. 6 And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” 7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God, (Galatians 4:4-7).

Happy New Year everybody!

I would like to take a little time to thank all of you for your continued support of this blog. You guys have been simply awesome–beyond measure.

Even though we may not always agree on every point; we treat each other with respect. I wish the greater society on the whole would take a page out of our books.

I pray that the God of Abraham will continue to inspire you to inspire and lead others to Christ.
