What about the little things?
The little insignificant things are important to God
It has been quite a while since I have dedicated my life to Jesus Christ. But I have to confess; I do get complacent every now and again. Complacency is the work of the enemy. It prevents you from doing the little things that could make a world of difference in someone else’s life. For example, the pair of jeans and the old computer which you have discarded and placed in your basement or attic could be of use to some poor child somewhere.
So, my dear brothers and sisters in Christ, avoid becoming complacent. Be watchful always.

Redeemed to serve
Quite often Christians seem to forget that we did not earn the salvation we boast about so frequently. Merely turning our backs on the world and embraced Christ was not enough to earn salvation. The Bible says,
“It is God who saved us and chose us for his holy work not because we deserved it but because that was his plan long before the world began—to show his love and kindness to us through Christ.”

God saved you so you could serve him. And when you serve God, you will find it necessary to be of service to others, so that they too will wise up and change course.
We should not forget that everybody started at the same place–born in sin and shaped in iniquity. But that’s not all. Here is what Paul wrote:

“Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other.
4But—“When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, 5he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.”
Who is God?
It seems to me that most of us do not have a clear picture of who the God we worship is. If you asked ten Christians who God is, you are likely to get ten different answers. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that we all have debatable notions of who God is.
But, if the patriarch and former Shepherd, David were still here he would paint a clearer picture of who God is. Here is how David described God:
Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

When all you have left is nothing
Rest assured you are not alone
When you have done wrong, and family, friends and close associates deserted you. And it feels like you are on an Island by yourself, rest assured that your heavenly father will not leave you or forsake you. He is waiting in the wings with open arms to comfort and console you. Confess your sins and ask his forgiveness and he will make you whole just like he did for David.
The Bible tells us that David was a man after God’s own heart. But David messed up. He cried out to God with a contrite spirit, and God forgave him.
Psalm 51

1 Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash away all my iniquity

and my sin is always before me.
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight;
so you are right in your verdict
and justified when you judge.
