Mark 8:22-25 (NIV)

A Blind Man Healed at Bethsaida

22 Jesus and His disciples came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. 23 He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When He had spit on the man’s eyes and put His hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?”

24 He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.”

25 Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes opened, his sight restored, and he saw everything clearly.

Fill my cup Lord

When I was a child, my mother would drag my brother and me with her to Church three times per week. Sunday night service was fun. Liked to listen to people testify about what God did for them. And I could not get enough of the songs they sang. One of my favourites from back then is: “Fill my cup Lord.” It was known as the altar call song. People would run to the altar to get their spiritual cups fill. I did not understand much of what was going on then.

Years later when I gave my heart to the Lord, I realise that it did not matter how saved you think you are; there is a time when you feel empty. You cannot put your finger on the reason. But you know there is a sense of emptiness within. And the fire you once had in your belly suddenly lose its fury. So, you start to look for answers, but nothing seems to help.

That is when you run to the altar and ask God to fill your cup.

Are you ready for the blessing God has for you?

Every Christian has at least one elusive thing on the bucket list that you hope God would help you check off. You spent hours in prayer asking God to bless you with this or that. But you never ask God to prepare you for the blessing your heart desire.

I am sure we have all heard of or know of a situation, secular and non-secular where at least one person got promoted to a position for which he or she was ready due to lack of preparation. And usual these situations never work out favourable for either side.

The parable of the lost son which Jesus told in Luke 15:11-20 is a good example of an individual who received a gift (blessing) he was not ready to handle. The young kid lived a sheltered life up to that point. Still yet he thought he could manage anything the world threw at him. But he was wrong. The Bible says the poor kid squandered his inheritance and ended up eating among swines.

So my friends, instead of spending lots of time asking God to bless you with whatever you need so badly. Spend some time and ask him to prepare you first. So that when the blessing comes you’ll know how to conduct yourself.

A Psalm of Praise/Thanksgiving

Psalm 100King James Version (KJV)

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.

Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
