Give Jesus your burdens or ride out your storm

There comes a time when everybody goes through the storms of life. Often they come when you least expect or when one is most vulnerable. And if one is not careful he or she could become so overwhelmed that you forgot Jesus could calm your storm.

Even so, being followers of Jesus Christ may not stop the tempest or the rolling billows. But you can rest assure Jesus can calm your storm. Still, sometimes your blessing comes at the end of the storm. And all you need to do is stay calm and ride it out. The late John Newton who knew a thing or two about storm and tempest wrote, “With Christ in the vessel I can smile at the storm.

Without a doubt, my fellow world citizen, if you got caught in the storm of life do not panic and do not despair. Just remember the following words spoken by Jesus. “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. My yoke is easy, and my burden is light,” (Matthew 11:28-30).

Mark 8:22-25 (NIV)

A Blind Man Healed at Bethsaida

22 Jesus and His disciples came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. 23 He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When He had spit on the man’s eyes and put His hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?”

24 He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.”

25 Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes opened, his sight restored, and he saw everything clearly.

A Psalm of Praise/Thanksgiving

Psalm 100King James Version (KJV)

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.

Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Are you stuck in a bad situation? God will pull you out.

Are you stuck in a bad situation? God will pull you out.
Time and again God came through for people who were in dire straits. Whether it was Daniel in a den of hungry lions, the swindler, Jacob fleeing Laban, scrawny young David biting off more than he could chew and agree to duel the giant, Goliath, Peter locked up in prison awaiting execution, or the three Hebrew boys in a fiery furnace.

God never failed to come through for those who genuinely need help. He is always there for you. And though He may not come when you want Him, he is always on time.

Nothing is impossible with God. So, whatever the situation you are stuck in, God is more that able to pull you out. Whether it’s something in your past, the nagging supervisor at your job that you cannot stand, or something to do with your finances or your relationships.

But it is important to understand that God does not impose His will on anyone. Here is what Jesus says about this. “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be open for you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.“” (Matthew 7:7-8).

Therefore, my friends. God is the silver line beneath your dark clouds. You only have to reach out to Him. He is the same Yesterday, today and forever. He parted the seas, calmed storms, closed the mouth of hungry lions and quench the heat of fiery furnaces. He always makes a way when it seems there is no way.
