There is a lot we can learn from each other as we share our differing perspectives and understandings of Jesus. That is, if we can dare to be a little vulnerable and admit that maybe we don’t have God all figured out.

Isn’t it a beautiful thing to know that we have a real impartial High Priest in heaven, who is acting on our behalf? He pleads our cases equally, to the Father. And nobody has to worry that He might sell you out.
Jesus is our High Priest and defender, and although sometimes it seems He is not listening; the truth is, He is working hard to declare your case null and void and to redeem you of your trespasses.
So, my friends, though your valleys are deep and wide, and your hills and mountains are steep and rocky hang tight. Rest assured that our High Priest is doing the right thing for everyone.
“You shall love your neighbour as yourself” is a command from God. But most Christians struggle to obey it, and rightly so. How can we give up our prejudices and love our neighbour as we love ourselves? Humans are naturally programmed to favour self, family and friends over everybody else. Even Jesus had a disciple who the Bible referred to as the disciple whom Jesus loved.
Still, despite our prejudices, and our history. Everyone can be compassionate and helpful to people of different race, culture or class. And I firmly believe that’s the message Jesus intended to get across when He told the parable of The Good Samaritan (Read Luke 10:25-37).
So, my friends, it is time for a new mindset and a new way of thinking.
Don’t wait until the ark door is close before you surrender. I am sure none of you wants to hear the following words when you appeared before Jesus:
41 “Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry, and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty, and you gave me nothing to drink. 43 I was a stranger, and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes, and you did not clothe me, I was ill and in prison, and you did not look after me.”
44 ‘They also will answer, “Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or ill or in prison, and did not help you?”
45 ‘He will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.”
46 ‘Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” (Matthew 25:41-46).
Jesus said the sick needs a physician. Still yet, many Christians, especially some among the fundamentalist group who do not believe in medical science. And even if their circumstances forced them to see a doctor they never take the medication the doctor prescribed.
About two years ago, one of my favorite cousins and I talked length about the state of our health. I told her I took medication to stabilise my blood pressure. She looked at me with a funny face. Then she asked me if I wasn’t a Christian. According to her, Christians should never take medications. They should pray for God’s healing. Oddly enough, my cousin died a year later (may her soul rest in perpetual peace) from a condition for which she refused to take medication.
The Jehovah Witness faith is another group that practice a strange principle. When I was a boy a beloved gentleman who practised the faith from a nearby town got hurt in a motor vehicle accident. He lost a lot of blood, and a blood transfusion was necessary to keep him alive. But the family and the Church refused. The poor man died and left a wife and four kids to fend for themselves.
Fellow Christians, prayer does work, but sometimes you need a physician to tell what is going with your health. Do not allow religious principles and rituals to prevent you from doing what’s right for you and your family at a given moment. Let Jesus be your moral compass, and fashion your life after Him
Are you on the right path?
Attention Christians! As you know, we live in a fast pace materialistic world with two paths. Whichever path you choose is up to you. But, before you decide on where to go, you must understand what those two paths mean. One is broad and colourful. It has all the glitz and glamour of the world. The other is narrow, bores you to death, and it does not appeal to many.
Humans are programmed to react to the impulses of the five senses. But every so often our reactions are premature, which cause us to make significant decisions without careful assessment.
Jesus does not want us to rely on impulse when we make important decisions. He wants us to do the right thing and choose the right path. Here is what He said: “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it” (Matthew 7:13-14).
So, my friends do not fall for the promises of the enemy. He can only give you temporary satisfaction. Instead, “Let us hold fast to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful” (Hebrews 10:23).
If you chose the narrow road, then you are on the right path.
